In April of 2014 I used my spring break to take a vacation to Oregon. In August of that year I moved from Michigan to Oregon. Before leaving my home state I was lucky enough to meet my lovely wife Emily while we were attending Dearborn Divine Child High School together. After high school I attended and graduated from Madonna University. Before making the move out here to the Pacific Northwest I worked as a High School Social Studies Teacher, teaching Government and Economics. I passed my free time by coaching the JV Baseball, and Varsity Football teams, and working with the Detroit Lions as a youth camp coordinator.
After moving to Oregon without the promise of continuing my career as an educator I found myself working in sales for the first time in my life. Although the money was good I wanted more out of my career, I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. I have a desire to be a positive influence on my community and that pulled me toward the KC’s, and is what ultimately led me to join the Knights of Columbus. Shortly after joining I discovered the opportunity of working as a Field Agent for the Knights. I quickly recognized this as an chance to utilize my unique skill set I developed through years of teaching and coaching to both educate people and help them develop different strategies to protect their financial well-being. It did not take me long to understand that I had found what I was looking for, a career that allows me to help others, and provide for my family.
I often reflect on where my life is today, and it still amazes me, where I am and how far I have come. My wife and I like to joke about our “plan” we had for our life together, and how far from that plan our life has deviated. It still astonishes us how listening to a power far greater than ourselves and taking our inspiration from God has lead us to the beautiful life we have today. Each of us with a career that we love, and friends that feel like family. I am truly blessed to be here in this position that allows me to help and give back to others while taking care of my own family.
